This photo was taken in the fall of 2008 in Poznan, Poland.
I’m not going to say what the illusion is yet, because I want to see if anyone else notices it.

My guess is that the pale blue corner of the building on the left seems to be behind the building on the right, but it obviously isn’t.
Wow, I didn’t notice that before! I can see what you mean, but that’s not the one I’m talking about. 🙂
I am struggling to see it – does it have anything to do with the people looking up and their size relative to the statue? Probably not but it certainly made me look closely at your image – neat trick 🙂
Yes! To me, it looks like the tiny couple are standing on the rim of the fountain and looking up at the statue. Glad you saw it, too.
Excellent – I am now feeling disproportionately pleased with myself 🙂

Nice trick!
Thanks! I didn’t mean to do it and only noticed it when I looked at the photo on a computer screen.
That’s part of the fun…the unintentional!
Great shot, Lilliputians and all. Love Poznan, too.
Thanks! Out of all the cities I visited in Poland, Poznan has the prettiest stary rynek. In my opinion.
Yes, it is lovely. But I give a vote for “my” Gdansk. Best wishes.
Wonderful unintentional forced perspective capture! 😀
Oh, is THAT what it’s called? 😉 You learn something new every day.
😀
I spotted the couple right away but I didn’t think it was the one 🙂 … obviously northum (something) got it right. And I like the sculptor design, I yet have to read about Poznan though. 😦
I’ll write about Poznan one of these days. I have a lot more photos..I lived there for 2 years!
🙂 looking forward!
My brain obviously isn’t working today. I though “what! Poznan fell in 2008?” That isn’t even funny. Love the photo though and would very much like to see more of Poznan.
I just reread what I wrote and can see how you might misinterpret it. The illusion is in the words, too, I guess. 🙂
Placement of the buildings???
Nope! It’s the “little people” that seem to be standing on the rim of the fountain and looking up at the statues. 🙂 Good guess, though.
I see two: the lamp in the back looks like water is trickling out of it and the other is the couple looking up making it appear that the statue is gianormous 🙂
I didn’t notice the “water” coming out of the lamp before. Good eyes! But you’re right about the couple who appear to be looking up in wonder at the statue, when they’re actually standing far behind it and looking up at the building.
great shot indeed 😀
I loved Poznan’s main square too – is this where the photo was taken? I didn’t get chance to see much more, so am looking forward to your upcoming Poznan story!
Yes, this was taken in the old market square. To be honest, the rest of Poznan isn’t that memorable, but the square makes up for it. Cheers!
Lol. I was staring at it for the longest time before I figured hopefully the comments section would have something.Thankfully you’ve answered the mystery!
I posted the photo to see if I was the only one who saw trick, and thankfully I’m not. 🙂
We see yet do not see all! Love your photo especially the symbolic scepters.
Thank you. 🙂
I thought it was something to do with the toe! 🙂
Which toe? I’m trying to see what you see. 🙂
Well I was reading on my phone, so it was all in miniature, but the statue guy’s big toe seemed different than the rest of him, new perhaps! 🙂
Okay, I see it now. Looks like he has a bandaid. 😉
I’m horrible at these challenges. The couple seems to be the popular choice 🙂
😀
Reblogged this on lost creek publishing.
Excellent! That’s my home city 🙂
Cześć! Poznan is a lovely city. 🙂
Cześć! That’s absolutely right 🙂
It looks like the female statue is holding an ice cream cone, which gave me a giggle but was not an illusion. The tiny people are interesting, and I had noticed the crying lamp, although they must be lights or something. It was worth the study. Great photo!
Crying lamp! That’s a lovely way to describe it. 🙂
It had been jealous of the fountain for so many years….
